Munising is a city in Alger County, Michigan and serves as the county seat. Located along the Lake Superior coastline, the community sits near the mouth of the Anna River, opposite Grand Island. The population was 2,539 during the 2000 census. Additionally, the city is adjacent to Munising Township, but politically and administratively independent.
